From the early hours of the morning on Saturday, April 8th 2023, almost 1000 participants ran on the campus of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest. The Agronomy-Herăstrău Campus is once again the host of the UASVM Cross, second edition, a competition dedicated to students and lovers of exercise in nature. Outdoor enthusiasts from young to old took part in the five categories: Kids 1K, High school Students 5K, UASVM Students 5K, Open 5K and Open 10K.
Among today’s unique moments, we mention the joy of seeing runners up to 91 years old, of having #extraordinary UASVM Bucharest students on the podium, sports lovers that brought along babies, four-legged runners participating in the 5 km race or the evidence of fair-play shown by the little runners of only 10 years! The winners enjoy a lot of prizes offered by UASVM Bucharest together with our sponsors, prizes that promote and support a healthy lifestyle.
The successful involvement of over 60 student volunteers in organizing the event is to be appreciated. Thus, along with the promotion of outdoor movement, the event was also a success from the perspective of encouraging students to engage in volunteering activities, socializing and developing team and community spirit!
The event was organized under the auspices of the Romanian Athletics Federation and has as its ambassador the Olympic, World and European champion in athletics – Gabriela Szabó. The sports competition is internationally certified by AIMS/World Athletics. The cross held in Green CampUASVM, the greenest university campus, offered the participants the opportunity to discover or rediscover the most beautiful places of the campus, a place recognized for its openness to lovers of nature, healthy living and exercise.
Today, together with Gabriela Szabo and the host of the event – Mr. Sorin Mihai Cîmpeanu & the UASVM team, representatives of the Ministry of Education, the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, the Romanian Athletics Federation, the National Anti-Doping Agency, media partners and sponsors were present.
This year is a special one considering that April 8th is “Clean Sports Day”. Clean Sports Day is a day when sports organizations (clubs, federations, professional leagues) together with whole communities, sports practitioners or simple sports lovers celebrate the principles that guide clean sports, performance unaltered by prohibited means and methods.
